Winter Camp Results: Real Progress You Can Measure

Built to help athletes dominate tryouts and prepare for the season, Excelsior’s 12-week Winter Camp focused on developing the qualities that matter most: strength, speed, power, agility, confidence, and injury resilience. Through expert coaching in a small-group, personalized setting, athletes trained with sport-specific drills designed to help them stand out from the pack and perform at a higher level. With pre- and post-testing built into the program, every athlete had the opportunity to see measurable progress heading into the next phase of competition.

This group made strong progress in every major performance category:
 

  • Flexibility: 43% improvement

  • Power: 13% improvement

  • Agility and Speed: 12% improvement

  • Strength: 24% improvement

  • Muscular Endurance: 50% improvement

where the biggest gains showed up

Flexibility
Improved movement quality and mobility set the tone for everything else. In the hamstring curl, athletes improved from 11 inches pre-test to 6.25 inches post-test, a 43% improvement.
 

Power
Explosive output improved through camp, showing up in both jumping tests.
Vertical jump improved from 18.06 inches to 20.46 inches.
Broad jump improved from 64.25 inches to 70.42 inches.

Agility and Speed
Change-of-direction work translated into quicker movement times.
Pro agility (left) improved from 5.4 seconds to 4.86 seconds.
Pro agility (right) improved from 5.5 seconds to 4.86 seconds.

Strength
Athletes made major gains in foundational strength.
Hex bar 1-rep max improved from 147.9 pounds to 182.75 pounds.
Bench press 1-rep max improved from 70.63 pounds to 77 pounds.

 

Muscular Endurance
Work capacity also improved significantly.
Push-ups in one minute increased from 20.25 reps to 30.4 reps, a 50% improvement.

These numbers are more than just test results. They reflect better movement, more efficient force production, improved strength, and greater confidence going into the next phase of training and competition.
