Sports Medicine & Wellness

Josie Fisher is the Director of Sports Medicine & Wellness and has been with Excelsior Orthopaedics since 2004. A Western New York native, Josie has been serving the sports medicine community since 1992. She obtained her physical therapy license in 2000 while working for a local private practice, and she is also a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Josie prides herself on having helped develop Excelsior’s collaborative model, which brings functional rehabilitation and sports performance together to help athletes be their best. Josie was a collegiate athlete herself, playing Division 1 softball at Canisius College. She has over 25 years of experience working with athletes of all ages, helping them realize their full potential. Through her efforts to have a strong community footprint, Excelsior proudly provides outreach athletic training to nearly 20 local high schools. Her passion for mentoring athletes and colleagues and being service driven in the community has helped establish Excelsior’s involvement in key community events such as the 11 Day Power Play, the Buffalo Marathon, Special Olympic NY’s Buffalo Bowl. She has also established strong pro-active injury prevention and sports performance training programs, particularly through Excelsior’s community outreach programs.

At Excelsior, the focus of Josie and her team is on patient-centered, functional training and manual therapy in the context of a fully integrated model – with strong collaboration between physicians, PAs, therapists, athletic trainers, and dietitians.
